(A:CM) came out last month, the FPS was lambasted by many critics for glitchy AI and low-fi graphics. I was apparently one of the few who could look past this, because Lance Henriksen and xeno spree killing. Still, I had hopes that the game would be patched, if only because demo footage showed a much better version of the game existed..somewhere. Now it looks like my hopes have been realized: Gearbox has released a patch that's nearly 4 GB.I just played through some of the beginning of this upgraded version of A:CM. I like what I found..and I think you may too.

Although the patch improves on the experience of the initial release, A:CM still does not gleam to the perfection some were hoping for—something it should have done after spending five years in development. It's not the same high-quality demo footage we were promised in trailers, but it is a much more esthetically appealing game. If you take the highs of the trailers and demo and the lows of the actual release, this new version of A:CM is what you get: a cross somewhere between the two.
The most obvious improvements are found in the graphics. Textures are much improved, particularly the rocks on the surface of LV-426. These rocks are now “unremarkable,” which is a damned sight better than “godawful ugly.” Interiors also look better, with moodier lighting and smoke. The Gigeresque surfaces look less shiny and out of place. Details from the demo that went missing are back: such as sparking consoles and dripping goo. And the marine that hits the umbilical in the opening scene now leaves an impact mark on the glass.

There's also a film grain effect that wasn't there before, meant to give the game a more movie-like feel, like Aliens. (Note: If the grain visibly bothers you, your brightness may be set too high—lower it and the grain should meld into the scenery. Strangely, there isn't an option to turn it off.)
On the negative side, a few things that could have been tweaked were left untwoked. The range of dynamic lighting seen in the demo isn't here, which is disappointing. A marine flailing in an alien trap still looked about as comical as he did in the initial release. There was a lot to fix, so Gearbox clearly made many, but not all, fixes, in order to get this patch out as soon as they could.
Sono Hanabira Ni Kuchiduke Wo – A Kiss for the Petals. Thank you so much, I was having trouble finding an English patch but its already translated, thanks x ?. Every download on this site is English. This game is first of “Sono Hanabira” yuri series – there are 8. A kiss for the petals - remembering how we met.
The AI has received some attention too. Maybe it's just me, but it does seem as if the xenos are more aggressive in their approach. It's hard to quantify exactly what's changed without being able to go back to the unpatched game for comparison, but I certainly found xenos plunging their inner jaws through my cranium with much more frequency if I let them get within pouncing range. Nfs rivals 60fps patch download. This should be a plus for those who considered the game to be too easy on release.
As we know from other reviews, many gamers had problems with game glitches, something I did not experience. A few hours of playtime in this improved version, and again I didn't have game glitches. But Gearbox claims it has made such improvements as “Fixed crashes tied to launch and motion tracker” and “Addressed several scenarios under which players could spawn without a weapon.”
In all, had this version of A:CM been released on February 12, it..still wouldn't have been a perfect shooter: The plot is not fully realized, and the graphics, while no longer apprearing painfully dated, are still not state of the art. But haters would have had less justification for their hate.
I hope gamers who had understandably rage quit from glitches, or found the aliens unchallenging, would consider giving this version a try. I also hope that texturephiles will no longer look at this game as the visual equivalent of nails on blackboard.
This is still not the game that fans of the Aliens saga had wanted. But it is one step closer. Now all Gearbox and Sega need to do is bring the game up to the quality of the demos and trailers, fans would be on it like, well, a xeno on a human.

When Aliens: Colonial Marines (A:CM) was released last month, many fans who had anticipated the smooth, clean graphics of the trailers were disappointed to see blocky, early 21st century textures instead. Now Gearbox has announced a major patch for A:CM that will address all manner of graphical and gameplay issues for the PC.As we know, A:CM was rightly criticized for its textures and lighting effects. We know that these better textures existed, because we saw them in demo footage. (I saw them firsthand at a demo last year.) It looks as if better graphics have finally arrived.
From the patch notes, two items immediately stand out:
- Improved texture resolution
- Various visual improvements
The AI also came in for criticism for being glitchy (though I personally didn’t encounter this). It looks like this too has received attention:
Aliens Colonial Marines Ps3 Cheats
- Tweaked enemy and friendly AI to be more aggressive and responsive.
- Modified campaign difficulty to account for improved AI responsiveness.
Coming in at 4GB, it’s a huge patch by any standard: It’s half the size of A:CM’s original installation. The recent Xbox 360 and PS3 patches had some of the changes we expect to see in the PC patch, but not all; the consoles will be getting the rest of the updates in the future.
(Check out the patch notes for the full list of changes.)
Steam should be getting the patch shortly, as Gearbox said the update “is now rolling out.” There’s no sign of it yet on my client, so I’m anxiously awaiting for its arrival. I’ll be revisiting LV-426 to see how it’s changed as soon as I’m able.

No word yet on the planned A:CM DLC, the first of which, “Bug Hunt,” is scheduled for release some time this month. However, if it’s been delayed in favor of a patch that addresses their major concerns, fans who have been disillusioned by A:CM’s original release may be more than happy to wait.

And for the few of us (like me) who could overlook the graphics, we may not have to overlook them much longer.
